Things to do this weekend in Qatar (November 22-24, 2018)

As cool winter winds make their way to Qatar we have made a list of amazing outdoor activities for the residents of Qatar to enjoy.

A specular fireworks show themed on maritime traditions will illuminate the Katara skyline tonight from 8pm to 8:20pm.

Along with the fireworks, the four-day festival will also feature a rich variety of cultural events, maritime contests and traditional shows.

The festival will include a massive display of traditional sailing vessels and dhows at Katara beach, where a number of food outlets and other services will be available for visitors. A maritime crafts market will also be held for the participating countries to display traditional maritime craftsmanship and tools including shipbuilding, ropes, sail and dredging machine.

An art competition focusing on sea traditions will be held on the sidelines of the Festival offering impressive prizes. The first prize winner will get QR30,000 while the second and third prizes offer QR 20,000 and QR10,000, respectively.

Night Market Qatar

Night Market Qatar in the parking area of Duhail Sports Club has opened its doors for visitors this season.

The market will offer a variety of cafes and shops in one place for the coming six months.

The fully furnished venue offers a wide array of products including apparels, accessories, health and beauty products and perfumes.

Night Market visitors will also be able to enjoy a variety of meals in the dedicated food court area. The venue also offers a spacious play area with bouncy castles and entertainment activities.

Where: Parking area of Duhail Sports Club

Philharmonic at the Library: Mozart for Winds and Strings

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart mastered many genres, and mixed ensembles of winds and strings are no exception. His Flute and Oboe Quartets date from his early 20s, and with Mozart that already means compositional maturity. The Clarinet Quintet, written two years before his death, is universally regarded as one of his masterpieces.

SYRIA MATTERS

“Syria Matters,” an immersive exhibition featuring over 120 artefacts dating back as far as 9th century BCE, opened at Museum of Islamic Art (MIA) Special Exhibitions Gallery marking MIA’s 10th-year anniversary.

The exhibition sheds light on Syria’s rich architectural and cultural history with objects displayed dating back as far back as the country’s early pre-Islamic period up to its contributions to modern history.

MIA will also hold spectacular performances, lectures, workshops, family activities and book discussions in the next few months for people of all ages that aim to educate members of the public about Syria.
