Qatar Museums Acting Chief Executive Officer Mansoor bin Ebrahim Al-Mahmoud attended the session along with significant Chinese artists Wang Jianwei and Xu Bing as well as Han Ziyong, director of the China National Arts Fund Center.
The panel discussion was chaired by Dr. Dina Bangdel, associate professor and director of art history at Virginia Commonwealth University-Qatar.
The talk discussed themes related to the exhibition including creativity, art education and cultural exchange, and speakers took part in an in-depth discussion on the state of contemporary Chinese art. The exhibition features works from 15 contemporary Chinese artists curated by Cai Guo-Qiang.
The exhibition will run until July 16 at the Qatar Museums Gallery Al Riwaq. It is the major highlight of the Qatar-China 2016 Year of Culture, a landmark initiative developed to deepen understanding between both nations and their people through mutual exchanges of arts, culture, heritage and sport.
