A number of areas in Doha and beyond are witnessing hectic construction activity as part of various infrastructure projects aimed at improving the lives of people, some Central Municipal Council (CMC) members have stressed.
Speaking to local Arabic daily Arrayah recently, the council members said these projects included roads, lighting works, commercial complexes and outlets, water and sewage networks, and healthcare centres.
A considerable number of such projects have been accomplished over the last six months while others are being implemented, they point out, adding that more projects are expected to be launched soon for further development in various areas.
They praised the efforts of the entities involved in such initiatives, such as the Ministry of Municipality and Environment, Public Works Authority (Ashghal), Ministry of Public Health and others, as a good number of these projects were being accomplished in record time.
Khalid Abdullah al-Hatmi, CMC member from the fourth constituency, said around 80% of the light network in the constituency has been accomplished along with water and drainage networks. He added that a number of streets were being paved and duly prepared.
Hamad al-Kubaisi, council member from the third constituency, said projects that were recently accomplished included the illumination of some streets, work on three locations for Al Furjan markets and the overall maintenance of around 95% of the local areas.
There is also a major project to create a comprehensive drainage network in the constituency, which will be launched soon.
Mohamed al-Azbah, CMC member representing the 12th constituency, said Muaither was among the fastest-developing areas in the country with various infrastructure and services projects being executed there and many others scheduled to be launched in the coming period.
Mubarak Frayish, who represents the 15th constituency in the CMC, said all houses in the constituency have been connected to the drainage network. In case there is any house that is yet to be connected, it is because the owner may be outside the country on holiday.
He added that there is also a plan to build new petrol stations in the constituency.
The CMC members expressed satisfaction at the percentage of infrastructure and services projects completed in their constituencies and hoped for more to come.
