The average occupancy rate for hotel apartments saw a double-digit growth. The demand for hotel apartment in June 2018 increased by a remarkable 11 points to 73 percent in June 2018 compared to 62 percent in the same month last year.
Three-Star hotels registered the highest rate of occupancy among all segments of hotel rooms. The occupancy rate in this category of hotels surged to 69 percent in June 2018, up by 9 percent compared to the same month last year, while the occupancy rate for 2 &1-Star hotels touched 54 percent against 50 percent in June 2017.
The average occupancy rate of hotel rooms in all categories (including 4 and 5-Star hotels) stood at 59 percent in June 2018, which is about three points lower than the 62 percent recorded in June last year, latest data released by the Ministry of Development, Planning and Statistics show.
The occupancy rate of 5-Star hotels in June 2018 declined to 55 percent from 61 percent a year ago, and 4-Star hotels’ occupancy fell to 60 percent from 63 percent (in June last year).
The average room rate (of all categories of hotels) declined to QR398 in June 2018, down by 13.66 percent compared to QR461 in the same month previous year.
The average tariff for 5-Star rooms in June 2018 reduced to QR582 from QR638 in June 2017 (down by QR56), and room rates for 4-Star and 3-Star hotels declined to QR250 and QR185 in June this year from QR302 and QR255 (same month last year), respectively. While the rates for 2&1-Star hotels were reduced to QR147 from QR199 a year ago.
The average revenue per available room (in all categories of hotels) fell to QR234 against QR284 in June last year, down by QR50 per room.
The average revenue per available room in 5-Star hotels declined to QR323 in June 2018 from Q388 in the corresponding month last year, down by QR65 per available room.
