Qatar-US forces in joint training exercises
Qatar’s Joint Special Forces launched yesterday, in association with the US Special Forces, the training activities of year 2017/2018.
These joint exercises come as continuation of the ongoing co-ordination and co-operation between the two friendly nations in the military field.
Joint Special Forces Brigadier General Hamad Abdullah al-Fetais al-Marri and Col David Keesey, Military Attache at the US embassy, attended the launching ceremony.
The Directorate of Defence Communication (DDC) stated that these joint exercises for the training year 2017/2018 are continuation of the scheduled exercises conducted from the beginning of the year. It reinforces the depth of military co-ordination and co-operation between the two countries.
The joint training exercises also highlight the determination of the ministry of defence to benefit from up-to-date military advancements from all brotherly and friendly countries.
DDC emphasised that the launching of a full year joint training exercise programme in partnership with the US Special Forces represents an assertion to the depth of Qatari-American military ties.
Speaking to Qatar TV, the Qatari official said the exercise was part of the training programme launched in the end of 2016 and which continued until the beginning of 2017 under the title ‘We die and Qatar and Tamim lives’.
“The second phase of the training that started today will go on until the end of 2019. It includes numerous exercises and manoeuvres inside and outside Qatar.”
The American officer said the relationship between the two countries is very important. “There is no security for America without the security of Qatar. Such training is part of our co-operation,” Col David Keesey added.
